Coming Soon: Oracle Cards Against Mundanity

Coming Soon: Oracle Cards Against Mundanity: The Honest AF Animal Wisdom Deck

An Oracle Deck and Cards Against Humanity had a love child. This deck is it!

I’ve always wanted to create my own Tarot or Oracle Deck. As an oracle card junkie, I have a drawer filled with them. But I wanted something more than woo woo feel-good fluff.

As someone who is BLUNT, I wanted cards that are cute, but cut to the truth of the matter. Not cards that leave me scratching my head saying, “wtf is the answer then?”

And I didn’t want to predict some imaginary future…so I created oracle cards that show you how to CREATE the future you want, in no uncertain terms.

Behold, here are some of the Honest AF Animal Wisdom Cards. I’m in the process of having the booklet and box formatted.

Flashback Friday

The other day Chad’s Dad was asking him how he made the prize-winning Carry Me Robot Illusion Halloween Costume. I reminded Chad we actually made this DIY Halloween costume tutorial a few years ago. Enjoy!

Tis the Season for Halloween Paintings

Tis the Season for Halloween Paintings

Last night there was a chill in the air. So today I dragged my easel outside and sketched one of my pet chickens wearing a witch hat. This is Clucky. Clucky stars is plenty of my other pet portraits.

Whimsical Animal Art

Here’s the finished Halloween painting. I added a ghost peaking out of the barn, a black cat. And Clucky is sitting on a pumpkin.

In Other Halloween News

Last month I published a book of scary stories. I’m still writing the book that goes with the oracle deck I created.

I felt like I didn’t really create much during quarantine, but looking back…I painted over 50 original paintings (44 of them are for my oracle deck), wrote and released a music album on sound cloud, wrote a handful of original ukulele songs, created a few music videos and learned a bunch of songs with Chad for our band The Loverfaces, and I published a new book.

How to Stick to Creative Goals

I’d admit that during quarantine I truly wanted to live like a sloth on the couch. But the artist in me knows that if I don’t create, I will die. That’s how it feels anyway.

I stayed productive creatively by quitting social media for a few months…now I only check in once a month or so. I didn’t miss out on anything. Plus I wasn’t pet sitting or face painting or writing for clients due to the pandemic. So my schedule was pretty open. I only allow myself to watch TV at night. And I do not watch the news EVER.

Last weekend I pet sit for the first time in 6 months! My pal Tillie (chihuahua) stayed for 5 nights. Chad and I are ready to get our own dog soon.

Don’t Stop Creating Art, Start Pivoting

As an artist for corporate events, I (up until quarantine) work at local Asheville corporate events and parties doing live painting, henna and face and painting.

When I paint custom pet portraits, I typically paint with a beloved dog on my lap. It’s been so hard not seeing the dogs I usually pet sit for!

Recently I was starting to feel REALLY bummed out and  sad because I didn’t realize how much face painting and live painting in Asheville meant to me until I wasn’t allowed to do it anymore (for quarantine). But I never stopped creating.

But instead of not painting or creating altogether, I decided to take my painting online and go digital with pet portraits and other projects.

Here’s a few things I’ve created recently:

I made an album cover for me and Chad in Microsoft paint…we now have a Patreon page.

The Pet Portraits I typically paint look more like this:

Another Microsoft paint Masterpiece…this is one of the many horses who live around here…Contact me here if you’d love a custom pet portrait or animal painting.

I taught my pet chickens how to finger paint. Yeah, for real.

I painted a pet portrait of my chickens in oil pastels. I think they love it!

Tomorrow night Chad and I will be performing some original music (and some fun cover songs) on my Facebook live…it may be the last one for a while because we plan on doing some local house concerts in Asheville once this quarantine is over.

That’s it for now. Contact me to order a pet portrait in Asheville (or anywhere in the USA).
